On Monday 3 February over 60 members of the community came together at Citi Faith Church for a workshop led by Voluntary Action Swindon (VAS) to identify the current inequalities or barriers to inclusion in Swindon.

Participants also considered priorities and solutions which will help to inform the future equality strategy for  Swindon Borough Council (SBC).

Pam Webb, CEO of Voluntary Action Swindon states, “We were delighted to host this workshop and would like to thank everyone for giving up their valuable time to help us identify these important issues.

Voluntary Action Swindon, together with members of the Swindon Equality Coalition, are committed to working with Swindon Borough Council to help make Swindon even more inclusive than it already is.

We were pleased to have Susie Kemp, CEO of Swindon Borough Council and Helena Taylor- Knox, organisational Development & Equalities lead for SBC attend the workshop.”

Helena Taylor Knox , Organisational Development & Equalities lead SBC states ,“Swindon Borough Council takes equality and inclusion very seriously as a major employer and as a Council.

It was incredibly helpful to hear how equal and inclusive Swindon feels to those in the community and we very much look forward to working with VAS and the Swindon Equality Coalition to take forward solutions to the priority issues identified from the workshop”
