Across Wiltshire, National Trust places in Avebury and Laycock are set to be full of warmth, magic and sparkle as the festive season approaches.
Christmas at Avebury Manor takes place from 29 November – 4 January, 11am-4pm. For two years Avebury Manor has been sleeping; its doors closed to the world outside as it readies itself for a new chapter. Suspended in time, in a space between the past and the future, the manor dreams of Christmas’ gone.
Memories of festive magic, twinkling lights, and choral music fill the rooms where nothing is quite as it once was. In this world of dreamscape and seasonal magic, journey through the manor where dreams whisper and new discoveries await around every corner. The event is free (normal admissions apply) and booking is not required.
The Christmas Market at Avebury takes place on 6 & 7 December, 10am-4pm. There will be a selection of local gift stalls and visitors can browse a range of artisanal products while listening to carols and festive music. This is a free event and booking is not required.
Story time with St. Nicholas takes place on 6 & 7, 13 & 14, 20 & 21 December. Times may vary so see website for details. Enter the festively decorated Dovecote to meet St. Nicholas, hear a special Christmas story, and receive a Christmas gift. Price is £8 per child and booking required via the website.
Winter walk with an archaeologist takes place on 16 December between 10.30am-12.30pm. Join a winter walk around the Avebury henge with Dr Nick Snashall, National Trust archaeologist for the Stonehenge and Avebury World Heritage Site. Price is £15pp and booking is required via the website.

Unseen Colour by Werner Bischof is a photography exhibition which will be held from November – May, 10am-4pm. In collaboration with Magnum Photos, discover works of previously unseen colour by World War 2 photojournalist and Magnum photographer, Werner Bischof. This is a free event (normal admissions apply) and booking is not required.
