Spring events for all the family at Avebury

The National Trust has unveiled a series of special spring events at Wiltshire attractions.

Among the locations is Avebury, best known for its ancient and enigmatic standing stones.

Its Easter Trail runs until 12 April from 10am to 5pm, with opportunities, to explore the farmyard and Avebury Manor Garden and take part in lots of Easter games and challenges to claim a chocolate egg.

It costs £3.50 per trail, with normal admissions applying, and there is no need to book.

Guided tours of Avebury Manor Garden will be held on 16 April and 21 May, running from 10 to 11.30am.

Conducted by Head Gardener Garry, it will be an opportunity to learn about seasonal highlights, a varied history and exciting new developments in the historic garden rooms.

The tour costs £10 per person, with booking required.

At fellow National Trust property Lacock Abbey, Easter Adventures run until 12 April, with visitors invited to explore the gardens, complete activities and claim a chocolate egg.

The adventures cost £3.50 per trail, normal admissions apply and booking is not required.

Photography exhibition Unseen Colour by Werner Bischof runs from 1 April to 30 May from 10am to 5pm.

In collaboration with Magnum Photos, it invites people to discover works of previously unseen colour by World War 2 photojournalist and Magnum photographer Werner Bischof.

It is a free event - normal admissions apply - and booking is not required.

The venue will host a Pinhole Camera Weekend on 25 April from 10am to 3.30pm.

A spokesperson said: "Drop in activities in Lacock's photography workspace and pop-up talks from pinhole camera expert Justin Quinnell."

An Experimental Photography Workshop will be held on 26 April from 10.30am to 3.30pm, during which participants will discover the tricks and tools of experimental photography where it all started, and make their own images to celebrate World Pinhole Photography Day.

The session will be led by pinhole camera expert Justin Quinnell and is priced at £75 per adult and £67.50 per concession NUS students. Booking is required.
