GENERAL ELECTION 2017: Liz Webster announced as Liberal Democrat candidate to become North Swindon MP

Swindon Liberal Democrats have announced that Liz Webster will be standing for the North Swindon constituency in the forthcoming general election. Liz is the mother of Henry who suffered brain damage after a vicious hammer attack at Ridgeway School in 2007. After the attack Liz carried out an extensive lobbying campaign to hold the school and the local authority to account. After the shock result of the referendum in June, Liz has been a leading figure in fighting Brexit and has headed up a team to promote a European Citizen’s Initiative (ECI), a Trojan horse of democracy which allows citizens to call for new European laws provided they have a million signatures. Flock Brexit is demanding the EU establish a “magna carta” type solidification for all EU Citizens to ensure rights and freedoms are not stripped away by Brexit. She said: “I am absolutely thrilled and energized to be standing as Liberal Democrat candidate in North Swindon and against one of the career politicians, a champion of Brexit, who is more focussed on Westminster rather than local issues. "Vote for change and to bring the direction of the country back to safety, openness and fairness on Thursday 8 June. "Send a loud message to Theresa May that you don’t want an extreme hard Brexit which will see us crash out of the Single Market and destroy the NHS and public services. The Liberal Democrats are the only party united against extreme Brexit. “Don’t be fooled by the Tory magical mystery bus tour which in reality is a cutting machine to demolish the welfare state and burn regulations, only to rebuild an American type system with lower employment protections and healthcare only available to those who can afford the premiums. I am passionate about ensuring our NHS is supported not sold off, we must continue to have a free point of service healthcare service for all. "Every child must have the opportunity for an outstanding education, Swindon schools are already underperforming and need more help not less. The Tories used the excuse of the financial crisis for austerity and stealth council tax rises and now they’re blaming Brexit to administer an extreme ideology of a Britain with low corporation taxes with no welfare state. I believe in a country which shares its successes and supports all.” Having had an exciting career in Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in the heady days of the 80’s, Liz moved out to countryside for a better family life and set up her own business, a nanny and household staff recruitment agency. In 2007, after the savage hammer attack at The Ridgeway School which left Liz’s son brain damaged, Liz began a long and extensive lobbying campaign to hold the school and the Authority to account as no independent inquiry was undertaken into how Henry was brutally assaulted whilst at school in an attack that was described as ''something out of a Quentin Tarantino film”. Despite heavy criticism from the judge, Carol Hagen, The Ridgeway School nor the authority would cooperate with the Serious Case Review until ordered to do so by a Judicial Review and the results were eventually published almost four years later.
