Driver arrested on drug and weapon suspicion after motorcyclist dies following collision

A motorcyclist has died following a collision in Chiseldon yesterday afternoon - 11 August.

At around 4.05pm, police officers responded to reports of a collision between a Triumph Scrambler and a black Volvo V60 at the junction between Draycott Road and The Ridgeway in.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was declared dead at the scene, and a police spokesperson said: “His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

The driver of the Volvo, a 24-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, causing death by careless driving while under the influence and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been taken into custody for questioning.

As of earlier today, the junction remained closed while enquiries were carried out.
