A 70-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following what the police describe as a serious incident in Highworth.
Gary Rogers, of Downs View, Highworth, was arrested following the incident at his home on Tuesday 4 August.
A 69-year-old woman suffered serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. She remains in hospital receiving treatment.
Rogers has been remanded in custody and was due to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court today - 6 August.
