Eligible Swindon families will soon receive an email inviting them to book their children on to The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme this Easter holiday.

The Department for Education (DfE) provided funding to local authorities to coordinate a programme that provides healthy food and enriching activities to eligible children during the 2023 Spring, Summer and Winter school holidays.

This is known as the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme. The HAF scheme has been extended into the 2024 Easter holidays.

Around 7,000 children across Swindon will be eligible for free holiday provision over these periods.

Eligible children will have the opportunity to try new activities, meet new people and make new friends. The scheme also enables them to maintain a school structure and to learn and develop new skills and understanding through activitys.

The email will provide a voucher with a code to unlock some fun activities, from arts and crafts, to sports and games.

Children will get a healthy hot meal each day they attend an activity and eligible families have until the start of the Easter holiday to book.
