The first jars of Lydiard Park honey are available for sale.
Beekeepers Michael Carter and Barry Roberts from Swindon & District Beekeepers Association have extracted the initial batch of first harvest of pure honey from the park's four active hives.
Cllr Jake Chandler, Deputy Leader of the Swindon Borough Council and Cabinet Member responsible for Country Parks, and Cllr Leanne Stevenson visited the Walled Garden to see the bees in action, learn more about the hives and see the honey up close.
Cllr Chandler said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to offer some amazing home-grown products at Lydiard Park and the honey is our latest success story.
“The beekeepers do an amazing job at the Walled Garden and it’s fantastic to see the fruits of their labour creating such a buzz among visitors.
“We’ve only got a limited supply so I’d encourage residents to be quick and pick up a jar while stocks last. If you miss out, there’s always the Heritage Cider as a worthy substitute.”
Honey enthusiasts are urged to make sure they snap up their share quickly, as only 30 jars are initially available.
They can be purchased at the park's Coach House Tea Rooms, where there is also a selection of garden plants and locally made products.
