Swindon Borough Council have given thanks to local volunteers who gave up their time to clear the outside space at the Saltway Centre.

The council have publicly thanked a group of local volunteers - John, Ian, Jo and Jensen from Serco Estates at Great Western Hospital - who spent six hours clearing the outdoor space at the Saltway Centre.

The Saltway Centre is used by children who are in the council's care, and for family time sessions.

The council believe an outdoor private play area is an amazing, positive and relaxing place for the families to spend quality time together, and the volunteers have helped to get the outside space ready for use.

The volunteers were said to have worked non-stop to cut back and move weeds, brambles and fencing which had been damaged.

A spokesperson for the council said: "More work still needs to be done to the garden before families can really enjoy it, which is why we're developing ways our staff can use their volunteering hours to help with more projects, just like this one."
