Mela event returns to Swindon for 2022

Swindon's Boishaki Mela event will be making a comeback this July, in GWR Park.

Organised by the Bangladesh Association, Swindon's popular Mela event will be held on Sunday, 17 July, in aid of the Mayor of Swindon's charities. 
 
Mayor of Swindon, Cllr Abdul Amin said: "This year will mark the second time this Mela event has run in Swindon - the first was a year before the pandemic, and it attracted nearly five thousand people. It's a great family event!"
 
The all-day event will be held at GWR Park, off Faringdon Road (SN1 5DJ). The Mela celebrations start at 1pm and will finish at 7pm. 
 
Attendees will be able to enjoy many activities, including:
  • Folk music performances from Nish, SmashBengali and TRXBL
  • Dance performances
  • A fashion show
  • Henna
  • Face painting
  • A variety of stalls
Entry fee is priced at £2, and individuals can pay on the day.
