Council's Waste Wizard is simply magic

Swindon Borough Council are reminding residents to use the Waste Wizard feature on their website.

If you are unsure if something can be recycled, or which bin an item should go in, you can find out by using the councils Waste Wizard search engine.

All you need to do is simply enter the item into the search bar and, abracadabra, just like magic, it tells you where to place it.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We are committed to dealing with Swindon’s waste in the most sustainable and environmentally friendly way possible.

“It costs around £140 to process every tonne of non-recycled waste. Recycled materials cost less to dispose of and may actually raise revenue for the borough.

“We are trying to reduce the amount of waste Swindon produces, and if that can’t be done, recycle as much as possible. You can use our waste wizard for more information on what can be recycled and how.”

“One of our most commonly searched items are banana skins. These should be placed in your food waste caddy.”
