Wiltshire and Swindon Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson has launched a major new public consultation.
Called Use Your Voice: Budget and Precept, it seeks people's views as the budget for policing and commissioned services for the next financial year - 2025/6 - is developed.
Mr Wilkinson said: "As Wiltshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, it is my responsibility to ensure our county’s police force has the resources it needs to continue Making Wiltshire Safer.
"Policing lies at the heart of a thriving community, and it is through your support that we can continue to make Wiltshire a place where everyone feels safe and protected.
"I am asking every resident to share their views and this is your opportunity to have a direct say in shaping the future of policing in Wiltshire.
"Policing is funded through two main sources: a grant from central government and the police precept—a portion of your council tax. Together, these make up the entire budget for our police force.
"However, under the current national funding formula, Wiltshire Police receives the third lowest funding per head of population in the country but it still faces the same crime types and demands as more urban areas.
"Despite this chronic under funding, Wiltshire Police, with the support of my office, has worked tirelessly to make significant improvements in recent years, with visible progress across many key areas."
