Swindon St George Rugby League FC have announced that club legend Richard White has has agreed to re-take on the role of chairman for the Dragons.
The move comes after a period of standing down due to health issues.
The position became vacant with previous incumbent Warren Huggins having to resign due to other commitments and public duties, and Mr White was quick to thank his predecessor for his hard work and dedication in the hot seat.
"Warren has been an inspirational leader of our club," he said. "My aim is to continue in his footsteps and build on the great work he has performed whilst in the role."
Mr White himself has continued to put in hours of effort during his sabbatical, along with hard-working wife Lisa.
Plans for 2026 have been laid out by the returning chair, with the club’s Wheelchair RL and Masters sections both reporting a full programme of action for the upcoming campaign, and the Junior pathway scheme continuing to thrive with a complete fixture list in the offing.
The club says the rapid growth of this sector that has helped shape plans for St George’s senior side this season, with plans for several challenge matches to take place.
The reasoning behind this is the need to help the Junior graduates get a feel for open age League, before a return to full competitive action in the following year.
Meanwhile, main sponsors Powerwash Contractors have confirmed the continuation of their extremely generous support, backed by a full list of equally valued contributors.
Further prospective sponsors would be more than welcome and can contact the club at [email protected].
The club says that with a healthy financial situation reported, fantastic ‘ground-share’ hosts at Swindon RFC and exciting plans in place for 2026, it’s all systems go at Greenbridge Road for Swindon St George Rugby League FC.
