'The Story of West Swindon ... from Roman Times to the present day' illustrated talk at The Hub, Toothill Centre, will start with a short film called Westwords.
Pupils at local primary schools and Greendown Community School wrote a long poem in 1998. It was performed just once at that year's Swindon Festival of Literature, but not recorded.
The film was made to mark the 20th anniversary of the poem in 2018 by students at Lydiard Park Academy.
Accompanied by local scenes gathered by local filmmaker Keith Phillips, the lines were read by the students, teachers, parents and two of the original poets. It’s a fascinating view by young people 28 years ago.
Tuesday 13 October, starting at 7.15pm
All are welcome.
Discover this new community facility. There's a bar, so why not come along early? Donations towards the cost of room hire will be requested; any excess will be passed on to Prospect Hospice.
Join Toothill Hub for an evening celebrating West Swindon, both in film and some 120 images.
