A special celebration event was held on Thursday at Lydiard Park for Kinship Carers and their families to mark Kinship Care Week.

In Swindon their are 44 kinship carers who provide loving, stable homes for local children and young people.

Kinship care is when a child is cared for by a relative, friend or another trusted adult when their parents are unable to care for them.

Councillor Kate Tomlinson, Swindon Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Education, said: "Kinship carers play an invaluable role in the lives of children and young people, providing love, stability and a sense of belonging during difficult times.

"It was a pleasure to spend time with some of our kinship families and thank them personally for everything they do. Their dedication helps children stay connected to the people and places that matter most to them and we are incredibly grateful for their support."
